Seminar and Workshop:


Besides providing training, BIJEM has organized several seminars on the occasion of 'World Press Freedom Day’. Besides, three other seminars on `Public Relations Profession in Bangladesh: Problems and Prospects and Public Relations Profession in Bangladesh: The Challenge of 21st Century’ and Right to Information’ were organized. Leading journalists, educationists and public relations experts of the country participated in these seminars. BIJEM plans to hold several more seminars & workshops on journalism, public relations affairs and preparations are underway.

Recently (17th February, 2010) BIJEM organized a workshop on "Story, Structure and Screen Writing". The workshop held at the conference room of BIJEM. Renowned American film director and producer Mr. Eric J. Adams conducted the workshop. Conducting the workshop, he said, "There has never been a better time for independent Bangladeshi film makers as the world is thirsting for fresh voices from emerging countries,""Due to new technology, the cost of making films has dropped tremendously, but filmmakers must remember to develop and tell great stories if they want their films to stand above the crowd," Adams added. He encouraged participants to collaborate with fellow filmmakers to capture the untold stories of Bangladesh in film. He was accompanied by his wife Ms. Kathleen J. Adams, a noted psychotherapist, with whom she was collaborated on numerous creative projects. Ms. Kyra A Buchko, Conflict Resolution Specialist and Lawyer of USA and BIJEM executive director Mirza Tarequl Qader were also present. A total of fifty two Bangladeshi young film directors, producers, script writers, cinematographers and film journalists attented the workshop. It may be mentioned here, Adams most recently produced and co-wrote the independent feature film 'My Suicide', winner of seventeen major film awards, including the Crystal Bear at the Berlin International film Festival.

BIJEM is also involved with the Community Radio establishment and Right to Information’ movements.
